I just rediscovered these photos which reminded me of a story I have to tell you. These are from a few years back, late summer. As you can tell, we have lots of deer in our area and they are pretty comfortable just hanging around. If you look closely, you will see that the two fawns are nursing.
These little guys were just like little kids. They were running and jumping, chasing one another and then just took a few minutes to rest and then start all over.
At one point, Mom got fed up with their antics (which really were pretty cute) but she reached her limit. They were carrying on just in front of her and all the sudden she took her front hoof and brought it down on the back of one of the little ones. The "crack" was easy to hear!!
Then they went over by one of trees and stood butt to butt. One looking one way and the other looking the other. Wonder if the danger they were looking for was actually Mom!
Although I don't particularly like what they do to my flowers and trees, I do love watching them and capturing their story. If you haven't already, make sure you visit my December 2nd blog. Nature is so beautiful!
