Lake Ontario Sunset ...Webster, New York

The beauty of a sunset is hard to ignore ....

On any given night, people gather on the shores of Lake Ontario, in Webster Park ... and wait.  Camera
silhouettes are everywhere.

Some folks fill the time with other activities ... but .... every night it happens.

Without a doubt ...
... the show is dramatic ....

.... moving, and beyond human intervention. It happens regardless of what else goes on in the world at that moment. It's consistent, reliable and comforting .... it wins "Best in Show".  And, you know what ... it's free.

Yup ... right here in Rochester .... on the shores of Lake Ontario ...

Mt Vernon, Virginia
They're beautiful, graceful and so lovely to look at.

Rarely do I want to step up into them. I simply want to gaze on them from afar.
Charleston, South Carolina
I want to drink in their detail, marvel at their craftsmanship, breath in their elegance.

Lessons from Monet ... (Duck, NC Outer Banks)

All photos are from Duck, NC - Outer Banks
Monet loved the play of light. One of his gifts to the world was capturing the emotion created by the ever changing caress of light on life.

I can't help but think of his focus when I watch the sun rise on a new day.

Every moment brings a new reveal of the flow of gold from the rising sun. The ever changing patterns of the waves.
But, I also have a moment of discovery as I move my lens .... I too can change the emotion of the picture.
I can fill it with gold ....
I can move the focus in and  out.
 Bring in more color ....
 .. adding blue ....

and changing the emotion of the morning light.
Do you wonder about this addiction ....

As I walk away from the beach, my head is full of all that I have seen, felt, discovered. My brain and soul are full. And, hundreds of years have passed and I am still grateful to one man whose lessons have lived on. Talk about a gift! I accept.
