Watkins Glen .... the power, the beauty ....

The dawning of  day promised  showers over Seneca Lake, one of the beautiful Finger Lakes. Knowing this brought excitement to my being.  I could feel that the timing was right, my excitement was growing  and I knew it was time to head to the southern tip of the lake to start the climb through the glen. Grey skies, showers ... yes ... perfect ... thank you God!

First view .... is this for real! Water doesn't flow like this in the fall! Yup, I'm headed in and up!

I'm dizzy looking up ... then I looked ahead.  No way, look at this! Who cares that it's wet, slippery with leaves and about 100 steps to climb. Now, not only am I headed in and up, I'm about at a dead run; excited beyond belief to see what is around the next corner!

OK, so now I am breathless and stop to rest my lungs and look back on where we have just been.  OMG, you really are kidding me! I can feel a little shake erupting from within me.  Perhaps it's my oxygen deprived muscles but I'm not thinking that's right. It's this place!

Oh man, what a gift!  Look at the brightening of the day, the contrast of the dark wet stone and the warm green leaves.  OK, time to keep pushing on and up.

This just can't be real. Really!!! Please camera disk, don't let your space be eaten up by the 200 pictures I've taken so far.  (Why the heck didn't I take that extra disc with me!)

Oh my God .... I think that I have just reached heaven....
