A sweet little story ... about a sweet little chair!

It is a sweet little chair, isn't it.
It's obviously been well used, "traveled" many miles and if it could share its stories, it would say it's about 100 years old.

So, it found it's way to my home ... from one great grandchild to another great grandchild of it's original little kid owner. Badly in need of repair, I debated for weeks about how to solve the problem. And then one night, I summoned my courage and thought .... I am going to do this!

Although I have no way to prove this now, I believe this little chair was created for my grandmother, by her father. Given that potential knowledge, how could I let another set of hands re-create this seat of this little chair.

Swallowing hard, I went and got my cutters and stripped it of the original reed seat.

Several hours  later, Here is the new seat ....

... stained and ready ... for new little butts to build some more memories.

And, although the picture isn't the greatest, here is a picture of me, sitting in that sweet little chair, at my grandmother and grandfather's house.  Little did that little 3 year old know that some 58 years later, those little hands would be re-canning that sweet little chair.  :)
