Colonial Williamsburg ..

Even the flowers are authentic for the period. They're "old" but they are new!

And, would you take a look at this "Live Oak" tree.  As I was standing beneath its stately structure, I couldn't help but wonder just how old it is and what it has "seen' in its day.  I am certain there are stories to be told!

The buildings are beautifully detailed.

Throughout the town, there are moments that let you experience what must have been the daily activities of the people living here. As they enacted the passing of "news" of the soldiers marching forward and the fighting going on, I couldn't imagine what it must have been like to try and understand and plan next steps without the knowledge that comes from our TV reports, cell phones, etc. In today's world, we can hardly manage to go to the grocery store without conversations on our cell phones, let alone save villages from invasion!

It's a pretty town and I never tire of visiting it. I know that part of my love of this area is my dear friends that live here.  But, there is something about stepping back in time that is good and grounding.  God bless of of them that lived at that time.
