Clouds! Do you remember ....

.. as a kid, lying on the ground, watching the clouds go by? For me, I was always trying to make them into something. And, I loved the fact that they changed shape in a heartbeat.

Like this one ... do you see the Teddy Bear with it's arms up (The head of the teddy bear is the large dark cloud on the right side, nose of the bear is just above the center of the pic, one ear is the lighter round cloud on the top right and his arms are coming up out of the bottom of the picture as if he is driving a car) .

How about the picture above and below ..... Top one looks like a big ship coming through rough seas. And, the one below looks like submarines surfacing from the deep.

These two are Alaska. They "are what they are". Top is the mountain range flying into Anchorage. The bottom is taken from the plane out of Fairbanks to catch our ship. THAT mountain is Mt McKinley/Denali and it's just the top. The majority of the mountain is beneath the clouds.

The next five photos are taken from my front yard in Webster, NY. When this show began, I ran into the house, grabbed my camera and started clicking. I didn't dare take my eye from the viewfinder because it was all happening so fast ... and it was so dramatic!

As the sun was starting to set, we jumped in the SUV and headed to the lake ... we just knew it was going to be worth the rush. I just kept praying that we would get there in time. Although it's only about 3 miles to the lake .... it was a long 3 miles!

Guess it doesn't matter if you are a kid or an adult ... clouds are another one of those spectacular shows of nature that you never want to miss; nor, do you get tired of looking at.

Wissahickon Park .....

... within the city limits of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!

My comment was .... "We are in Philadelphia?".

Although the day was overcast, the play of light and the fog, provided the opportunity for drama!

From fungi growing on decaying trees ....

.. to the long arms twisting out in the eerie fog ...

... to the woodland path that promised an unbelievable display of rhododendron and azaleas in the spring ...

.. to the quiet gentle reflection in the water ....

..to the guided path by stone work "painted" with lichen and moss ...

... to see the combinations of earth's best color!

What a gift ....in a most beautiful area. Next request .... a journey back in another season. But the most special gift of all was the time spent together. How lucky am I? Thanks for yet another wonderful memory DPW!

Aruba ... a little bit of the wild side!

The cacti on this Island are amazing. Amazingly, beautiful ...

....and plentiful. I couldn't help but laugh as we came upon this field of little "newbees"!

A little further down the road, we found the serious "parents"!

But, most amazing to me was this bird, perched on top of one of these spiny towers! Are you kidding me! Can you imagine coming in on the landing! Makes me squirm just thinking about it.
