...and what I was thinking.
Mesa Verde, in a beautifully quiet section of south west Colorado, has the power to settle into the depths of your mind with wonders of what it must have been like for the Ancestral Pueblo people
who made it their home for over 700 years, from A.D. 600 to A.D.
1300. The guide explained that women would strap their children to their backs and climb the ladders that would bring them over the overhanging cliffs which were considered their protection.
Due to my fear of heights, I couldn't bring myself to climb into certain sections of the dwellings. To pass the time, I remained in a gathering area, connected via my BlackBerry to work! In a matter of minutes, I felt a strange sense of inappropriateness .... resulting in quickly shutting off the BB. This sacred ground needed to remain just that. I struggled with thoughts of using my digit camera ..... but, knew I just had to capture these amazing villages.
