Heads and tails ... clever!

Entering the door of Vermont's Bennington Pottery Factory/Store, you're greeted by this vision .... a cow's head seemly attached to the wall.

Walk around the store towards the factory, and  ...... you're greeted by the other end! Cute idea!

I love the unexpected!  And, all this is part of this very cool old building.

                                                           Love it all!

Indian Trail .... at Watkins Glen

This is the "high road" above Watkins Glen.  With so many people visiting the glen at the same time we were, we decided to explore the alternate route.  Although it's high above the gorge, the path was a beautiful alternative to the hundreds of stairs.

The canopy above was a striking contrasting to the hard characteristics of the river gorge.

The path lead us back to the glen  ..... beauty on top of beauty.

                                                        It's another "rock concert"!

My all time favorite picture .....

Who can possibly resist this picture??!! My granddaughter and the polar bear (at the Seneca Park Zoo, Roxhester NY), are both looking at a ball on the bottom of the pool. The picture is about 6 months old .... but, it never gets old.  I fall in love with it every time I see it.  Her Mom was in the right place at the right time. How appropriate that this would be the only picture to be posted on my blog that I didn't take.

Wonder what is going through both of their heads.

Wandering the hillside ... into Hammondsport, NY

                                                             Such a beautiful ride ...

It's all about texture, color and dimension.

Makes you just want to jump out and graze too!

Floating Bridge ... and a little bit of Brookfield, Vermont

I have to give you the history of Brookfield (from Wikipedia) :
It was created by Vermont charter on August 5, 1781. The population was 1,222 at the 2000 census. Brookfield is best known for its floating bridge which spans Sunset Lake buoyed by pontoons. The bridge, which is the only floating bridge east of the Mississippi River, was originally built in 1820 by Luther Adams and his neighbors. Sunset Lake is also the site of an annual ice harvesting festival. Brookfield boasts that it has Vermont's oldest continually operating library dating back to 1791. In 2006, Brookfield was one of the first American towns to have its citizens pass a resolution endorsing the impeachment of President George W. Bush. As of September 2010, the floating bridge was closed for repairs. The town does not have the money to fix it and one resident indicated that it will be some time before they do.

Ariel's Restaurant,  in Brookfield, is a find! The charm of the old building, combined with the accomplishments of the chef using local and regional ingredients, ..... is..... delectable!

Another gem of Vermont ..... the town, the people, the restaurant, the bridge.

A new favorite photo .....

There is something so tranquil about this photo.  Walking along the main street in Brookfield, Vermont, I glanced back over my shoulder and saw what I thought would be a great shot .... here it is! Somehow I feel like I am drifting down a lazy river.

More to come about this little town of just over 1000 residents.  Humm  ..... tomorrow perhaps.

Esperanza Mansion .... the view, the place ....

Did I hear you say, "Where is this"?  Bluff Point, New York of course.

Sitting high up on the north west shore of Keuka Lake, sits the Mansion, restaurant, Inn, grounds ... all rolled into one lovely piece of property!

We had a family wedding here 5 years ago this week.

Only one word is needed to describe the day ... magnificent!

                                                                          Sigh.

When the day gets rough, come sit here!
