Driving back towards Lake Placid after visiting Mt VanHovenburg Bobsled run, I glanced over my left shoulder and noticed that Mt Marcy was out of the clouds! Not one to miss what I would consider a good photo shoot, I found the next driveway, turned the SUV around, apologized to the others who were with me, and headed to the mountain.
In a matter of minutes, I was pulled over to the side of the road and happily snapping away.
Although the wind was howling and the snow was dancing across the fields and whipping over the snowbanks, my fingers refused to let the cold slow them down from clicking the camera.
The power and magnificence radiates from her presence.
Back in the car, I couldn't help but want to get closer to her. And, I just knew that there was another photo op by the beautiful red barn.
After a mile of really rough road, I decided it was time to turn back and head out.
It's hard to stop looking ... I think this is Avalanche Pass.
Good-bye to one heck of a magnificent mountain. You take my breath away. Please take care of my black glove. It was well worth the sacrifice of losing it. Guess it was my way of leaving a little piece of me in the mountains I love.
