I simply couldn't resist ... to share my walk.

This was my morning greeting today! The beauty was awe inspiring.

The color, the detail ... how is it possible?

Perfect 10s in my estimate! Your thoughts?

Canandaigua Lake ... a little bit of the Finger Lakes

Have you been here? If not, then you should!
On this particular 24 hour  retreat, the clouds puffed up ...

......... the sun and rain did their spectacular dance together .........

....... the water and the people happily co-existed. .....

...... and the animal family, embraced the setting of the sun, venturing out for their evening meal..........

Whoops! Must have been my flash! Ears up, eye contact ...... (her thoughts) guess the one with the camera doesn't look like she'll eat my grass ...... back to business!

Reading my Adirondack and Vermont Life Magazines (how appropriate was that), I just happened to glance up and caught sight of this little guy wandering the driveway.  OK, he made me a little nervous ... what is a fox doing out in broad daylight, around people, and looking a bit mangy.  Keep right on going little guy!

Oh wait, that apple tree is being visited again!   Geez, maybe there should be a traffic light!

Loved my time with you CW and S! Why did it have to end! OK, caught that look, one more time!

Unexpected beauty of a garden shed .....

... Ah ... back to Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport Maine, and a leisurely stroll through yet another little piece of heaven that they have carved out of their world.

I happened upon one of their gardening sheds, only to find little surprises tucked into their windows. (Notice the clippers tucked away below the window sill).

I love this idea and my new shed next year will have windows just like these and a place for my gardening sheers to rest. The loveliness of a shed ... who would have thought!

Traffic light on top of the Town Hall in Saranac Lake, NY

OK all you Saranac Lakers .... I need the story about this traffic light at the base of the Town Hall clock.  I checked out our beloved "Bunksplace" and I'm not sure if I should reprint the answer.  I'm open for an explanation and will update the blog with all explanations.  Go for it!!

Explanation (thanks LD!) - It was used to alert the police, to let them know that they needed to come back to the station.      Now really, how cool is that! I doubt that there is another town with that claim to fame. (Maybe I should have known this as my Dad was a policeman in Saranac lake!!)

Further info from Saranac Lake's own BS!  Way back when the cops had call boxes on the telephone poles (remember?). So I think they saw the light and could hit the call box (only cops had the key to them). Don't know if that's exactly right, but think it is. Then again, what the hell do I know.
Funny little tale: I was in the Newberry lot a few years ago and a family from Jersey was ahead of me, walking toward Main Street, when the father stopped and said,"What's that stop light doing on top of the town hall?" Of course I was eavesdropping (like you), so I said,"Well, if you really wanna know, today is your lucky day."    (Wish I had BS' ability to tell a story!)

Got to love this little town, its history, its stories and its folklore.

Walking to get my lobster .....

... this was part of the view!  They are lovely!

Must be that Kennebunkport, Maine ocean air! Makes me almost want to move.
