The art of display ...

Hurd Orchard, Holley ,NY

 Many trips to Hurd Orchard have filled my memory banks with the excitement of their flower displays.

Most often, the trips are a fall excursion because I know  that their fall arrangements will be breathtaking.  But, I was curious .... what could spring bring.

Simply put, it brought more still life drama. As I walked into the barn and my eyes began to adjust to the interior lighting, my brain started to explode. The arrangements and lighting created the most breathtaking  display ... of spring flowers.

Simply put, I couldn't get enough of the creation.

 

I wander around and around in the barn, knowing that I needed to go explore the other outbuilding.

 

There's always another little corner to explore, with yet another display; some less purposeful than others. That is the joy of the experience.

But, all good things must come to an end, to include this journey. With the most delicious apply pie in hand, we wandered back through the buildings and the store. 

Just one more shot please, of the ceiling, and all the dried flowers reaching down biding us a happy day and a safe journey back home.

 What marvelous way to spend a few hours. Thank you to the artist whose hands created so much beauty.

Crashing the party!

 About a month ago, I sat quietly in the sun-room,  just taking in the peaceful atmosphere of dinner time with my feathered friends.

 For the most part, it was peaceful ... until they decided to change "seats".

There was almost a politeness happening .... Ok, you eat first. then I will.  Of course , more than likely, it's really about, I'll stand guard while you eat and then you stand guard for me.

They even watch from above. What about that circling hawk?

 The dress code ... come as you are. All are extraordinarily beautiful .. some flashier than others.

Thanks for letting me crash your party guys! I thoroughly enjoyed my time with you.

Things I know ... and, don't know!

Highland Park, Rochester, New York

 I know when my gut says to pay attention, that I need to.

I also know that there are times to slow down and appreciate the moment.

Yesterday at Highland Park was one of those moments.

 Can you believe that I hesitated in the morning to take the short drive up to the park. I was dragging ... tired from lots of life stuff ... all good; but, making me long to just stay home.

Someone else in this house had other thoughts; knowing that the overcast sky and high light was something I love to take advantage of.

Within 20 minutes of leaving home, I was so energized!

After circling this particular tulip bed a dozen times; standing up, kneeling down, wondering if someone would call an ambulance if I laid down to get that upwards shot ...  

I knew I had to move on with the day.

 But, not before going back one more time ... for one more shot .. or 12.

I circled back in thought ... things I know - this is pure beauty!

Things I don't know - why I even thought for a minute that I was too tired to go to Highland Park!

So glad for that attitude adjustment!
