Looking forward

Highland Park, Rochester, NY

I woke up this morning thinking about the day that will soon come, when I can roll out of bed on the weekend, grab my coffee and head to our beautiful Highland Park.

Come May, it's like a daytime fireworks display!

 

The colors and contrasts are so incredibly beautiful.

 

 And, I will be beside myself with my camera, shooting picture after picture, in any way that I can.

Half the excitement is the anticipation!

What a difference a day makes!

Yesterday, Vulcan decided to come ripping through NY.  Seeing as though I live in Webster, it's all about Rochester.

 

Even the Weather Channel was broadcasting about 3 miles from our house. Lake Ontario was a big conduit for the winds (45 mph) and 16 inches of snow. 

 Shoveling and snow-blowing ... on and on. However, the snow around the windows was pretty interesting. Even more interesting, as I was shoveling the driveway, the flocks of geese were flying over. It was really like The Wizzard of Oz!

This mornig brought beautiful sun shine, interesting snow banks and a rest for weary.

Tomorrow is promising 45 degrees.  I'm sure I will hear the geese again and perhaps there will be ducks floating in the back yard!

Absolutely Adirondacks!

Before any of you get any ideas that you are going to claim this as your second home, I'm putting my stake in the ground ... it's mine!

OK, I  confess, we have become one of the renters of this absolutely lovely Adirondack log home.

But, I am still going to lay claim!

Every detail has been thought out. And, I do mean everything!

I'm a pretty darn detailed person and I have to say ... there was nothing left out. In fact, my reaction to some things was "Oh my"! 

As I walked through the door the first time, my hands went up to my face and I kept saying OMG.

I wasn't alone in my reaction.

This is a MUST DO!

Don't get any ideas of taking over the times that I will be there .... I have first dibs!! :)

 Absolutley Adirondacks (check out their website).  How lucky are these people! And, how wonderful that they are willing to share their piece of heaven.

From the beginning ... to the end.

 Life's journey is somewhat like painting a picture.

There a set up period, everything getting put together ... and a blank canvas.

 Next steps ... birth! It's pretty simple at this point, color happening, details being thought about.

And, so it grows ... a little more color, a little more detail.

More color, more definition .... depth and character.

It matures.

 As an artist, I hope for my spirit to live on through the work I create. As I painted this piece, my aunt remained close in my heart. There are many ways to say good bye. Her spirit began in the Adirondacks and in closing, my wish is that her spirit travels the mountains and the lakes ... happily and peacefully.            For you Aunt Betty.

An Absolutely Adirondack Welcome!

I  love this picture. It says it all .... without any words. 

But, somehow I feel the need to tell the rest of the story. The fire was burning oh so beautifully, wine was poured and we were settled in after a great day of exploring the town. Lots of cold and snow were predicted for the night ahead.  Being the mountain girl that I am, I recognized that another load of wood was the prudent approach to the next 12 hours.  Funny how no one fought me for the chance to go get the wood ... so I happily wandered out to the woodshed and grabbed a big load of wood and then I turned around. My breath caught and I stopped dead in my tracks. Next thought ... time for my camera! I bust into the house, dropped the wood on the floor and ran back out the door. They must have thought that I had lost my mind.
