How appropriate!

 What better spot to capture some beautiful shots than at the George Eastman House (Kodak)! Against the purity of the snow and the gracefulness of the trees, the strong architectural detail and color of the stone is an interesting contrast.

Each turn in the walkway revealed yet another opportunity for a great shot. Yup - to me ....it was happiness and excitement!

And, I certainly couldn't resist a picture of the tulip banner  standing out against the snow. As much as I wanted to go inside and shoot the tulips, nothing was tearing me away from what was happening outside.

 

Ahhh ... such magnificence! Tomorrow .... pictures from the yard. Just so, so appropriate.

Friends of a different feather!

I have so many pictures from this picture perfect weekend that I was conflicted as to which ones to post first! Finally, after much deliberation, I have decided that these are the first out of the file.

I know these are similar pictures but just enough different that I couldn't eliminate any one.

So the story ...... driving down a fairly busy road, I caught these guys out the corner of my eye .... floating in the creek beside one of my most favorite houses in Penfield, NY. Car pulled off the road, I jump out to walk back to a fairly safe vantage point .... thinking ....these shots just have to be beautiful.  Hope you enjoy!

The end result ....

... of what those who don't like snow would say is  Mother Nature's Dandruff, is a beautiful pristine white blanket that's pretty amazing to look at.

 And, that amount of snow makes it hard for the birds to find food ... and so the feeder has been busy.

To the real flakes!

This morning there was green grass. By noon there was about 6 inches of snow and then the storm hit!

It just kept coming and coming.   The joy of it was that the wind wasn't blowing so the snow kept piling up .... with the bird bath looking like it had a giant marshmallow on top of it.

The snow on the lilac tree branches accentuated its design.   And, the bird house was closed for business!

The Pampas Grass was frozen in time without even a hint of their normal dancing plumes.

 The Adirondack garden was buried. And the playhouse with the little kids Adirondack chairs was surrounded by the beautiful full pine trees with snow weighing them down. And, if I could take a picture tonight, you would see another 6 inches of snow.  Can't wait for the light of dawn to reveal the results of Mother Natures ever changing artisitc hand. I feel like a little kid waiting for Santa in the morning!

Snowflakes ...

Beads and wire and light, certainly can't duplicate the beauty of a real snowflake.  However, hanging in the light of my kitchen window gives these fine specimens an opportunity to display their rendition of the real thing.

I never tire of seeing these hanging in my window, reflecting the light from the sun or a candle. They are intriguing to me.

  They send me a message ,,,, enjoy winter, love what man can create, watch what light can do,  surround yourself with things that bring happiness and joy to your world ...

One of my favorite sayings .... it's simple; yet complex.
