Lake Ontario and Mother Nature!
But, today was a story of a different nature .... it was a story all about Mother Nature!
We however, had a tired Mother Nature compared to areas in our country that dealt with her fast and furious power. For us, she provided a water show.
Today was NOT the day for a jaunt out to the end of the pier where fisherman normally try their hand with a pole and bait.
In this area, a shelf provides protection to the shoreline, and also creates a run off for the waves that have been broken by the wall, losing their punch before eroding the shore even further.
As I watched this display of power, and felt my fingers being so cold that I thought they would fall off, I was overwhelmed with the sound.
The 65 mph wind, the waves slamming into the cement wall .... it was all around me ... inside and out.
I felt small and pretty powerless. I felt like a toy.
The hills, trees, water ....
It was grounding to encounter something that wasn't moving!
OK Mother Nature ... thanks for the show today! I love you!

The many faces of bark.
| St. Bernard's Cemetery, Saranac Lake, NY |
Hummm .... wonder what interesting journey I can create today. Ah ..... bark! I have no idea why bark popped into my mind; but, by the time I arrived home, my brain was whirling!

Here's my thought. Tree bark is much like a face. Each tree is different, bark comes in many forms, and the form of the bark is individual to each tree .... no two trees look the same.

Mt Hope Cemetary ... Rochester, NY ...
...the symbols of memories, love, loneliness .... thoughts ....are many.
There are twists of nature ....
.... contrasts of power, strength, and stone.... against the softness of the trees.
The grounds are paths among lives ... paths among distant memories ....
.. of lives that were full.
The art is amazing ...
The landscape .....lovingly created, maintained ....
and filled with agelessness ...
... and memorials.
And there are so many words of wisdom... words to live by!
May I have the humor to give such a last laugh!
